The most common question I come across during my “Leadership” workshops is, what can I do to be an effective leader? And my answer remains the same, before your don the hat of a leader, connect with your team, build relationship and gain trust.
Unless followers are connected with their leader at an emotional front, Leadership can never be effective even though backed by the best vision. The point I want to emphasise on is that effectiveness is not about vision in isolation, it’s about its execution and realisation. Hence you need a team that believes in you, swears by you and can go to any extent to make you successful. This is possible when the team members see themselves as a part of their leader and relate to his vision as their own.
